You may have received, or will soon be receiving, an email from SoFi letting you know that a corrected 1099 document is available for your SoFi Invest account.
This happens for a few reasons. The most common are:
- An ETF, mutual fund, interval fund, or publicly traded company reclassified income that was distributed during the tax year. The issuers and publicly traded companies are able to make these changes even after the date to deliver tax documents has passed. Such corrections are not errors by SoFi Invest or our clearing firm; rather, we are required to make adjustments to your 1099 as a result of the issuer notifying us of this event.
- If any information on your 1099 was found to be incorrect or missing or was changed after your initial 1099 was completed, a corrected 1099 will be issued.
When filing your taxes please ensure to use the most recent copy of your 1099 tax form sent to you by Apex. If you have already filed your taxes, we encourage you to contact a tax advisor to understand the next steps and any tax implications.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, please reach out to us at 855-456-7634 or chat with us online if you have any questions.
You can find any tax documents you qualify for in your Document Center.
