Annual percentage yield (APY) is variable and subject to change at any time. Rates are current as of 9/23/26. There is no minimum balance requirement. Fees may reduce earnings. Additional rates and information can be found at https://www.sofi.com/legal/banking-rate-sheet.

Eligible Direct Deposit means a recurring deposit of regular income to an account holder’s SoFi Checking or Savings account, including payroll, pension, or government benefit payments (e.g., Social Security), made by the account holder’s employer, payroll or benefits provider or government agency (“Eligible Direct Deposit”) via the Automated Clearing House (“ACH”) Network every 31 calendar days.

Although we do our best to recognize all Eligible Direct Deposits, a small number of employers, payroll providers, benefits providers, or government agencies do not designate payments as direct deposit. To ensure you're earning the APY for account holders with Eligible Direct Deposit, we encourage you to check your APY Details page the day after your Eligible Direct Deposit posts to your SoFi account. If your APY is not showing as the APY for account holders with Eligible Direct Deposit, contact us at 855-456-7634 with the details of your Eligible Direct Deposit. As long as SoFi Bank can validate those details, you will start earning the APY for account holders with Eligible Direct Deposit from the date you contact SoFi for the next 31 calendar days. You will also be eligible for the APY for account holders with Eligible Direct Deposit on future Eligible Direct Deposits, as long as SoFi Bank can validate them.

Deposits that are not from an employer, payroll, or benefits provider or government agency, including but not limited to check deposits, peer-to-peer transfers (e.g., transfers from PayPal, Venmo, Wise, etc.), merchant transactions (e.g., transactions from PayPal, Stripe, Square, etc.), and bank ACH funds transfers and wire transfers from external accounts, or are non-recurring in nature (e.g., IRS tax refunds), do not constitute Eligible Direct Deposit activity. There is no minimum Eligible Direct Deposit amount required to qualify for the stated interest rate. SoFi Bank shall, in its sole discretion, assess each account holder's Eligible Direct Deposit activity to determine the applicability of rates and may request additional documentation for verification of eligibility. See additional details at https://www.sofi.com/legal/banking-rate-sheet.

3 months ago · Updated

Understanding how to use your SoFi Credit Card while traveling can help you make the most of your account. Below, you’ll find clear explanations and answers to common questions.

Foreign Transaction Fees

When you use your SoFi Credit Card for transactions in foreign currencies, SoFi covers the 0.9% foreign transaction fee. However, a 0.2% foreign conversion fee is included in the transaction and is not reimbursed by SoFi.

Card Usability Abroad

You can use your SoFi Credit Card almost anywhere Mastercard is accepted around the world, making it easy to shop or withdraw cash in the local currency while you travel. Please note, though, that your card may not work in certain countries due to U.S. government regulations set forth by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

OFAC Sanctions

SoFi must comply with the rules set forth by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), a federal agency that enforces economic and trade sanctions based on US foreign policy and national security goals. Some countries are subject to U.S. government sanctions, which means we’re not allowed to process transactions there.

For the most up-to-date list of affected countries, please visit the OFAC Sanctions Programs and Country Information. We’re unable to make exceptions to these restrictions.

Travel Notification Policy

You do not need to notify SoFi before traveling internationally with your credit card. Your card is designed to work seamlessly while you travel, so you can enjoy your trip without any additional steps.

Permanent U.S. Mailing Address Requirements

You must maintain a permanent U.S. mailing address while traveling internationally with a SoFi Credit Card.

Using Your SoFi Credit Card at Chip-Enabled Terminals

Chip card technology is widely used both in the U.S. and internationally to enhance the security of your transactions. Here’s how to use your SoFi Credit Card at a chip-enabled terminal:

  1. Insert the chip end of your credit card into the terminal with the chip facing upwards.
  2. Follow the prompts on the terminal screen.
  3. If necessary, either sign or enter your PIN.

Keep the card in the terminal until prompted for removal. Removing the card too early will cancel the transaction.

What is Chip Card Technology?

Chip card technology enhances card security for electronic payments by adding an encrypted smart chip to the card for use with a chip-enabled terminal at the merchant. The chip generates a unique transaction code that is shared with the merchant.

Lost or Damaged Card While Abroad

If your SoFi Credit Card is lost or damaged while you are abroad, report the issue to SoFi as soon as possible. You can contact SoFi customer support through the app or website for assistance with securing your account and requesting a replacement card.
