If you withdraw funds that earned a match or bonus before the holding period ends, you'll be charged an early withdrawal fee equivalent to the proportional amount of the match or bonus based on the retention breach.
The proportional early withdrawal fee is based on the retention value breach and is deducted from the withdrawal amount. This includes a withdrawal made to satisfy required minimum distributions.
The early withdrawal fee will never exceed the original amount of the match or bonus received. If there are any other applicable fees, they will be assessed separately in accordance with the then-current SoFi fee schedule.
To avoid this fee, your Invest account equity must stay at or above the original pre-promotion balance plus the qualifying deposit and the match or bonus amount. If a withdrawal causes your equity to fall below this total, the fee will apply.
The fee will also apply if you initiate a withdrawal and your total equity has fallen for any reason, including investment losses. The fee will not apply if your total equity has increased by more than the withdrawal amount through investment gains or additional deposits.
