A payment handle is a unique ID (like $jsmith@uma.money) that lets you send money to someone outside the U.S. It works like an email address for international transfers and is linked to a bank account. This is also known as a Universal Money Address (UMA).
If you’re sending money internationally, we’ll automatically create a payment handle for you the first time you use the feature and link it to your checking account. Right now, you can use your payment handle to send money abroad, but you can’t receive money with it at this time. If you ever need your payment handle, just tap the [little head/profile icon] in the top right of the Recents screen.
Your recipient also needs a payment handle to receive money. If they don’t already have one, you can invite them to set it up. It’s quick, free, and only takes a minute. Once they’re set up, enter their payment handle to send the payment. For more details, read How do I send money to someone outside the U.S.?
