When you make an ACH deposit into your SoFi Active Invest account, we make the funds available immediately for trading as a courtesy. This is part of our $5,000 Instant Funding feature! While you are able to trade with the funds, we are still waiting for your bank to honor the deposit. If your bank honors the deposit and sends over the funds, you do not see any change in your account. However, if your bank rejects the deposit request, we have to pull the funds back out of your account. If you have invested that deposit, this will cause negative buying power.
If you have had a deposit return by your bank, you will want to make a new deposit to cover your purchases, if any, or you can sell some/all of your investments to cover the negative buying power. If you are not able to make a deposit or sell some of your investments to cover your purchases in a timely manner, we will have to liquidate your purchases.
