Limit Orders are used when one wants to specify a price they'd like to buy or sell at, rather than accepting the current market price. SoFi Invest currently accepts Limit Orders during market hours, these are Good 'Til Cancelled (GTC) orders meaning they are good until you cancel them.
You can also place Limit Orders during our Extended Hours Trading sessions. Limit orders placed during the extended hours trading session that do not execute will be canceled when the extended hours session ends. You can learn more by visiting our Extended Hours Trading Help Center.
Limit Orders at SoFi are ‘All-or-None’ and we will not do a partial fill. This means that your Limit Order will not execute unless there are enough shares to fill the order at that price or better.
For Buy Limit Orders, the order will only be executed at that price or lower. This means that the price you enter for your Buy Limit Order will be the maximum you are willing to spend per share.
For Sell Limit Orders, the order will only be executed at that price or higher. This means that the price you enter for your Sell Limit Order will be the minimum you are willing to receive per share.
