How to buy a Fractional Share (Stock Bit)?

To buy a fractional share, select the option to invest in dollars instead of full shares. You can start with as little as $5.

If there isn't an option to invest in dollars, it means fractional shares are not available for that stock at the moment.

If the market is open, you can proceed with your purchase as usual. Happy investing!

Instructions:

  1. Log in to your SoFi Invest account
    First, access your account on either your mobile device or website. Then, choose the Invest account you wish to make the trade in.
  2. Search for the Stock to purchase
    After logging in, you can locate the stock you wish to invest in by using the search bar (on mobile, click the magnifying glass). Simply enter the company name or ticket symbol (such as AAPL for Apple or TSLA for Tesla) to find it.

  3. Enter the trade details (i.e. the amount you want to purchase)
    • Website instructions
      1. Click Buy

      2. Enter the amount you want to purchase (minimum $5)
      3. Click Review

    • Mobile app instructions
      1. Tap Trade then Buy
      2. Select Market Order - Dollars (order must be greater than $5)

      3. Enter the dollar amount

Please note: Fractional trading is not an option for all securities. If the toggle for Dollars is missing, fractional trading is not possible.


4. Review and place your order

1. Before placing your order, review the details carefully. You will see the amount you’re investing, the fractional share you’re purchasing, and the total cost (including any applicable fees)

2. Once you’ve reviewed your order, click Place Trade (website) or Slide to Confirm (mobile app)

Your fractional share purchase will be processed, and you will receive a confirmation once the transaction is complete.

After placing your order, you can track your fractional shares in your portfolio. You will see the number of fractional shares you own, along with their current value. Keep in mind that the value of fractional shares can fluctuate along with the stock price.
