How do I make a Mobile Check Deposit?

Mobile Check Deposit best practices:

  • Hold the camera Parallel to the item. Match check inside the guidelines on the phone. All four corners of the check must be visible
  • We recommend that a flash is not used as the glare may diminish the quality of the image.
  • Take the picture in a well-lit environment against a dark background consistent while avoiding textures such as wood grain, granite, or carpet. (No shadows)
  • If taken against a light background the optics may have trouble reading the edges of the item and therefore may not crop properly.
  • The check should lay as flat as possible in order to not warp the image. (no folds)
  • SoFi requires you to write the following restrictive endorsement on their check following their signature: 'For mobile deposit only at SoFi Bank'

Mobile Check Deposit Instructions:

    1. Select the 'Deposit' icon from the Money homepage.
    2. On the 'Deposit your check' screen, enter the dollar amount.

      1. IMPORTANT: You must endorse the check with “For mobile deposit only at SoFi Bank.” Failure to do so will cause your check to be rejected.
    3. Select 'Learn about deposit limits' and the following disclaimer will populate displaying your personal 'Check Deposit' limits.

    4. Select 'Take Photos.'

    5. The following requests for camera access will populate. Click 'Okay' and 'I understand' to proceed.

    6. Using the screen prompt, capture the 'Front' of the check.

      Check Capture Tips:

      • For the best results, you should place the check on dark background in a well-lit area.
      • The colored bar will fill from left to right as the camera is held still.
      • Frame the check within the borders of the onscreen rectangle.
      • If you're having trouble, you have the ability to make a 'Manual' capture.
    7. Select 'Use this photo' to continue.

    8. Repeat the previous steps to capture the 'Back' of the check.

    9. Once submitted, 'Review your deposit.' This includes an 'Estimated timeline' for funds availability, along with the option to retake photos.

    10. Select 'Deposit check' to submit the deposit.

    11. The check deposit has been submitted.

    12. Select 'Done' to take the member back to their SoFi Money homepage. The deposit can be viewed under 'Pending Transactions.'

    13. You will receive an email notification once the deposit has been approved and funds are available in your SoFi Money account.
