At this time, residents of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are eligible to refinance their student loans. If you reside in a US territory, you must provide a valid US federal or state government-issued identification, including valid federal or state government-issued identification from Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, and one of the following with your first and last name as well as your physical address listed:
- Utility bill (but not a cell phone bill)
- Bank statement (but not a credit card statement or SoFi Money Statement)
- Property tax statement
- Mortgage statement
- Investment account statement
- Student loan statements (associated loan must be in tradelines)
- Pay stub that meets the eligibility requirements for income verification.
- A signed/executed lease agreement with evidence of payment (e.g. bank statement or canceled check)
You are able to refinance both private and/or federal qualified educational loans at SoFi. A qualified education loan includes private and federal student loans and parent loans obtained for persons previously enrolled at Title IV eligible colleges and universities.
