You can fund your recurring investments using either your Self-Directed Invest account balance or a linked bank account. If you choose your Self-Directed Invest account balance, you'll need a linked bank account as a secondary source in case your balance isn't sufficient.
If you don’t use your Self-Directed Invest account, your linked bank account will fund all recurring investments.
Margin cannot be used for recurring investments. If your Self-Directed Invest account does not have a cash balance, your linked bank account will be used for the investment.
Example:
If you set up a recurring investment for $100 and choose to use your Self-Directed Invest account cash, but your account only has $50, $50 will be deducted from your Self-Directed Invest account and $50 from your linked bank account. If your Self-Directed Invest account has $0, the entire $100 will be deducted from your bank account.
